Job Description
Membership Coordinator:
The Harford County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a part-time (15 hrs/week) Membership Coordinator to start immediately. The Membership Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the management of benefits and services for all existing, new, and prospective Harford County Chamber members.  The Membership Coordinator will report to the Director of Membership and under guidance will interact regularly with many of the 600 members apart of the Harford County Chamber. Our ideal candidate must be willing to learn about the Chamber industry and culture, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication, and provide exceptional customer service.

  • Assist with answering phones and helping walk-in visitors
  • Support retention efforts by managing existing member accounts, benefits, and services
    • Maintain regular communication with members and provide excellent customer service
    • Utilize membership database to create and update membership accounts, prepare reports, manage billing items, and manage event information
  • Assist with onboarding of new members
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Actively reach out to delinquent members who are 60-90 days outstanding
  • Attend Chamber specific events or meetings as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • At least two years experience in a customer service-oriented role
  • Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, possess excellent time management skills, and comfortable dealing with many different business industries and professionals
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office; especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, and organizational skills
  • Capable of coordinating and tracking multiple, ongoing projects
  • Willingness to work both independently and as a part of a team to support, promote, and grow the organization
  • This role will require flexibility in terms of work hours to support events.
The following skills are preferred but not required:
  • Experience with membership database platforms, ChamberMaster preferred
  • Experience with Constant Contact
  • Experience with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram
Education and Experience Required:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field and/or equivalent experience. College seniors graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field may be considered.
  • Prior experience with a Chamber of Commerce a plus
